Why this site exists
Combo guides for Rise of Castles are scattered across screenshots, Discord servers and forum threads, and almost all of them share the same flaw: they show you the strongest lineups in the game, not the strongest lineups you can build. If the top Cavalry combo needs three heroes you don't own, that ranking is useless to you.
ROCMeta inverts that. You tell it which heroes you have, and it cross-references your roster against every one of the 859 ranked combos in the database, then shows you three things: the combos you can field today, the near-misses you are one or two heroes away from, and the specific heroes that would unlock the most new combos if you invested in them next. Nothing is uploaded — the matching runs entirely in your browser.
How the rankings are built
Every combo on this site sits in one of four categories — Cavalry, Archer, Footmen or Mixed — and holds an explicit rank position within that category, from #1 downwards. Each combo carries a score out of 100, computed from the heroes' own skill text as written in the game: expected damage (activation chances and cooldowns included), trigger chains between the three heroes' skills, row placement derived from every skill's range, troop eligibility, season strength, and more. Nothing is copied from other sites — community usage and in-game developer recommendations are used only to test the model, never as inputs.
The full scoring system — all eleven checks, their point values, and what each one measures — is documented openly on the methodology page. Every ranked combo shows its score and a written explanation of why its three heroes work together, so if a ranking looks wrong to you, you can point at the specific line you disagree with.
A hero's value shifts with balance changes and with the meta. When a ranking moves, it moves for a stated reason — and because the whole site is generated from a single database, one update refreshes the homepage, the category rankings, the hero pages and the meta snapshot at the same time. There is no stale page.
How heroes are added and kept current
New heroes are added to the database as they appear in the game, with their troop type (Cavalry, Archer, Footmen, or a mix) and portrait, and are immediately available in the generator. Combos featuring them are ranked and inserted into the relevant category lists. The current meta page is generated live from the database on every request, so the "most-used heroes" it reports are always a true reflection of the rankings as they stand today — 8 August 2026.
Who runs it
ROCMeta is run by a single Rise of Castles player, not a company or a content farm. It grew out of a spreadsheet used to work out which combos were actually reachable on one account, and it is maintained because the problem it solves is a real one. If a ranking looks wrong to you, or a hero is missing, or a combo has fallen out of the meta, tell me — corrections from players who are deep in the game are the single best source of improvement this site has. Use the contact page, or email admin@roccombofinder.com.
How the site is paid for
ROCMeta is free to use, has no accounts, no paywall and no premium tier. Hosting and the domain are funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. Ads are placed between content sections, never inside the combo generator itself, and never as pop-ups or interstitials that block what you came to read. What data advertising cookies collect, and how to opt out of personalised ads, is set out in full on the privacy & cookie policy page.
